We work in three connected areas. Across all of them, the goal is the same: careful, accessible, honest material that helps people understand and reason about artificial intelligence and the human future.
1Understanding AI
Most people now use or encounter AI systems daily, often without a clear picture of what these systems are. We produce plain-language explanations of how modern AI works, what it is genuinely capable of, where it tends to fail, and how it is likely to develop — without hype and without doom.
2Ethics & Implications
New capabilities bring new questions. How should AI be used in work, education, medicine, and public life? What does it do to how we know what is true? Who is accountable when systems act? We examine these questions carefully, representing serious viewpoints fairly, so readers can think them through rather than simply be told what to conclude.
3Positive Human Futures
Much of the public conversation about AI is about what could go wrong. That is worth taking seriously — and so is the opposite question: what would it take for this to go well? We study and describe credible, well-reasoned scenarios for beneficial long-term futures, and the conditions, choices, and safeguards that would help us reach them.
